Terms of use

The rules for using Happylancing Directory. By using the site you agree to them.

Last updated: October 20, 2026

1. Who we are

Happylancing Directory is operated by not configured: NEXT_PUBLIC_LEGAL_NAME and address ("we", "us"). See the Impressum for full details. These terms apply to the website, the newsletter and any account you create.

2. The service

Happylancing Directory is a free directory of public open-source repositories, built from data provided by the GitHub API and, optionally, the X API. We may change, extend or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that the site is always available or that its data is complete, current or accurate.

3. Listed software is not ours

Repository names, descriptions, code and trademarks belong to their owners and are used under their licenses or for identification. Listing a project, ranking it or featuring it is not an endorsement. We make no claims about the security, reliability, licensing or fitness of any listed software. Review a project, its license and its code yourself before you install or use it.

4. Generated content

Some summaries, categories and tags are generated automatically by a language model or keyword rules, and are labeled as such. They may be wrong or out of date and are not professional advice.

5. Accounts

Accounts are optional and use GitHub sign-in. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can stop using your account and ask us to delete it at any time. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms.

6. Submissions and messages

When you submit a project you confirm that the repository is public and that your note is accurate. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, store and display what you submit as part of the directory. We may decline, edit or remove any listing at our discretion. Maintainers can request corrections or removal through the contact page.

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • bypass rate limits, access controls or security measures, or probe the site for vulnerabilities without our written permission,
  • scrape or crawl the site at a volume that degrades the service, or ignore robots.txt,
  • submit spam, malware, misleading listings, or content that infringes the rights of others or is illegal,
  • use the site to harass anyone or to impersonate another person or project.

8. Our content

Our own texts, design, rankings, growth measurements and compiled database are protected by copyright and, in the EU, by the database right of the maker. You may link to any page and quote reasonable excerpts with attribution. Systematic copying of the catalog requires our permission.

We earn money from sponsored placements, newsletter sponsorship and affiliate links. Sponsored placements are always labeled and shown in separate slots. Affiliate links are disclosed next to the link: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Payment never affects organic rankings, trend scores or editorial picks. These disclosures follow the US Federal Trade Commission Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) and § 5a (4) UWG.

Advertising is booked by separate agreement. If we offer paid plans to consumers, the price, billing terms, and your statutory right of withdrawal will be shown before you buy, and the terms of that offer will apply in addition to these.

If you believe content on Happylancing Directory infringes your copyright or is otherwise illegal, follow the process on our copyright and content reports page. We remove infringing material and terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

12. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, the site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and wherever liability cannot be limited by law. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential obligation (one that makes proper performance possible and on which you can regularly rely), and only for the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.

Where the laws of a jurisdiction outside the European Union apply, and to the extent permitted by those laws, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, and our total liability arising from the free service is limited to US $100.

14. Indemnification

If you use the site for business purposes, you agree to indemnify us against claims by third parties arising from your submissions or your breach of these terms, including reasonable legal costs. This does not apply to consumers where the law does not allow it.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. For account holders we announce material changes in advance by email. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of not configured: NEXT_PUBLIC_LEGAL_GOVERNING_LAW, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If you are a merchant, the courts at our registered seat have exclusive jurisdiction.

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

17. Other provisions

If any provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
